Step into the melodic world of the Howling Timberwolves Choir, where every Wednesday morning is filled with the harmonious sounds of young voices coming together in song. This spirited ensemble is a haven for students who carry a tune in their hearts. The Howling Timberwolves is for students searching for more of a challenge than a regular general music class, focusing on music in different languages, 2-part harmonies, and popular songs.
Designed for all students, the Towne Meadows Running Club offers a great chance for children to stay active, make friends, and develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Whether your child is an expert sprinter or just starting to explore the joy of running, all students are welcome! All Running Club members will have weekly practices and the chance to participate in meets against other schools throughout the season.
The Battle of the Books is a fun, literacy-based event for fifth and sixth graders that is sponsored by the Towne Meadows Library and the School Library Media Specialists of the Gilbert Public Elementary Schools. The Battle of the Books follows a quiz-show format in which students cooperate to test their memories of 12 children's books by answering specific questions posed by their librarians. Students will work together in mixed teams, each comprised of students from Towne Meadows participating schools. The competition is comprised of several rounds in which a librarian asks a question to each team (made up of 3 students) in turn. Team members confer with each other before answering. Each quarter battle focuses on 4 books. The final team winners will go forward to compete against the other elementary teams at the end of the school year.
Student Council allows 5th and 6th grade students to be involved in a variety of committees. Students can help in the daily video announcements where they share birthdays, students of the week, word of the week and more. The Yearbook Committee takes photos, helps decide on the theme for the yearbook and interviews students to add quotes to the yearbook. Our fundraising committee helps sell items including smoothies and pencils to make money for the school.. Students can also be part of the class representative committee that keeps students informed about events coming up each month and dress up as Timmie for spirit days. We also have the Spirit Committee where students come up with monthly spirit days and design posters to share throughout the school. Being part of STUCO gives students the opportunity to take ownership of our school!
