Welcome to Band!

There are few experiences in life that can match the feeling of accomplishment when learning to play a musical instrument.  Indeed, playing a band instrument will teach your child proper posture, finger dexterity, and correct breathing technique.  Just as important, your child will learn the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and self-discipline.  All of these combined will contribute to the development of a strong character as well as strengthen your child’s mental well-being.

Students are given a choice of music class when they get to fifth grade. Band is one of their choices.  In this class, the students may choose to learn the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, or percussion.  Sixth Grade Band is a second year class for students who already have had one year of experience on their instrument.  Both grades perform in two school concerts, one in December and one in May.  The Sixth Grade Band also performs in the annual Sixth Grade Band Festival held in early February each year.
